Budget War – Micromax Unite 2 vs Moto E
The budget Android Smartphone segment in India has grabbed the top position on the news blogs and sections these days. There have been so many new launches in this segment in the last few days. All these just started when Motorola launched their first budget smartphone, Moto E in India. The all new Moto E is a perfect example of quality and performance bond together on a smartphone. Also, the pocket friendly price tag of Rs.6, 999, contributed in making the Moto E, the best budget Android Smartphone to buy in India. This smartphone was first launched exclusively on Flipkart.com, and went “Out of Stock” in just a few hours.
Moto E offers a strong and tough competition to other smartphones in the segment. Following which, other smartphone brands have joined the race to bring a new budget friendly smartphone in the segment. Many smartphone brands have already launched, and others are soon going to launch a new smartphone in the segment.
India’s number one smartphone brand, Micromax has launched their answer to the Moto E. Their new Android Smartphone, Micromax Unite 2 running on the Android KitKat OS has been launched at an attractive price tag of Rs. 6, 999, which makes it the number one rival to Moto E.

Moto E vs Micromax Unite 2
Display
Moto E sports a 4.3-inch Capacitive Touch Screen display, which is capable of producing 16M colours at a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels at 256 pixels per inch. The Micromax Unite 2 sports a bigger 4.7-inch IPS LCD Capacitive Touchscreen display, which produces a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels at a rate of 199 pixels per inch.
This suggests that the Micromax Unite 2 packs a bigger touchscreen display. Though, the resolution produced on the Moto E is better.
Processor & RAM
Moto E is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 Dual Core Processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 302 GPU. Whereas the Micromax Unite 2 is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek Quad Core Processor supported with 1GB of RAM and Mali 400MP2 GPU.
The hardware configurations of both these smartphones are well enough to run most of the useful applications and entertaining games without any complications.
Operating System
Moto E and Micromax Unite 2, both run on Google’s latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box. Motorola has promised that Moto E would be getting an OS update in the future, but there is no official word by Micromax for any updates on the Unite 2.
Camera
Moto E houses a 5 Megapixels rear camera, but misses an LED flash and a secondary camera on its front for video calls. Whereas, the Micromax Unite 2 packs a 5 Megapixels Autofocus rear camera, supported by LED flash. This smartphone also has a 2 Megapixels camera on the front to support video calls.
The Micromax Unite 2 steps ahead in this segment by sporting a secondary camera and an LED flash on the front.
Memory
For storage, both Moto E and Micromax Unite 2 boast 4GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB using a MicroSD card.
Connectivity
Moto E and Micromax Unite 2 have almost similar connectivity options including 3G, GPRS with EDGE, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, LE, WI-Fi, WI-Fi Hotspot, GPS with A-GPS support, MicroUSB 2.0 & 3.5mm Audio Jack.
Battery
Moto E is fuelled by a 1980mAH Li-ion battery. And the Micromax Unite 2 is fuelled by a 2000mAH Li-ion battery.
Verdict
In this comparison test, we found that both Moto E and Micromax Unite 2 are value for money and worth buy package deal. There are only two major differences between these two which can really be talked about. The Micromax Unite 2 packs a bigger touchscreen, an LED flash and a secondary camera, which Moto E doesn’t. However, the Moto E would be getting an OS update in the future, which Micromax Unite 2 won’t. These differences could hardly matter if you are out to buy a pocket friendly Android smartphone.
The final decision remains in your hands. If big screen, secondary camera and an LED flash does matter for you, you must go with Micromax Unite 2. And if it doesn’t, the Moto E is worth your next buy.
