2016 – The Year of Ransomware – Infographic

‘Ransomware’ is a form of malware that has seen a resurgence in the past year, affecting businesses across the UK – around 54% of British businesses have experienced a Ransomware attack. Once it enters a system, it locks down the user’s files, which can only be decrypted with a key the cybercriminal will supposedly supply after receiving the ransom. However, if the ransom is paid, there is no guarantee the user will get their files back.

This infographic by TSG shows that one-third of businesses who paid the ransom did not receive what was promised.
